Seal Hunting in Canada

Warning: This video is graphic and not suitable for all viewers.

Seal hunting is being practiced in Canada, Greenland, Russia and Norway. Canadian Government allows sealers, the seal hunters, to kill them for their fur. In Canada the sealers are protected by the 'Seal Protection Regulations' if you see a sealer club a seal pup and you don’t have a permit to witness the slaughter you can be arrested, jailed and fined up to $100,000 or sent to jail for a year. Baby seals are shot or clubbed. The sealers then drag them across the ice floes using boat hooks, often the seals are still conscious. The dead ones are tossed in to heaps and left to rot. Many who are killed are less than 3 months old. I think this is similar to what happened in Japan where they kill dolphins.
